Joana M. Ramis, PhD

Degree in Pharmacy (UB, 1998) and Biochemistry (UIB, 2002). PhD with European mention from the UIB (2003), supported by an FPU fellowship. International research experience as a predoctoral researcher at Rikilt-Wageningen (The Netherlands) and as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom) with a Marie Curie Fellowship. Between 2009 and 2014, she worked in the biotech company Numat Biomedical as R&D Director. Since 2011, she has been teaching in the area of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the UIB, initially as Adjunct Lecturer and currently as Full Professor.

Her current research focuses on the development of new therapies and technologies in the fields of cell therapy, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine, as well as their translation into clinical practice; specifically, on cell-free regenerative medicine through the use of extracellular vesicles derived from different cell types.
