Marta Monjo, PhD

Dr. Marta Monjo holds a degree in Biology (1998) and Biochemistry (1999) from the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). She was a predoctoral fellow at UIB (2000–2003) and a visiting researcher in 2001 and 2002 at the Institute for Nutrition Research (University of Oslo, Norway). She earned her PhD from UIB in April 2004. Likewise, she conducted postdoctoral research at the Department of Biomaterials (University of Oslo, Norway) from 2004 to 2008. She was a Ramón y Cajal researcher (2009–2013) and, since 2014, has been teaching in the Department of Fundamental Biology and Health Sciences at UIB, currently as a Full Professor.

Her research focuses on the development of new biomaterials, advanced therapies, and specialised medical products, with extensive experience in technology transfer and industry collaboration. She co-leads the TERCIT research group (UIB-IdISBa) and coordinates the PhD program in Translational Research in Public Health and High-Prevalence Diseases (TISP). She has published over 100 articles and is co-inventor of 5 patents.
